Jog Help
Getting Started with Jog
Jog quickly steps an element up and over (or under) the nearest clash in Autodesk® Revit®. It works on pipe, duct, conduit, and cable tray, including fabrication parts. Watch Demo Videos or read below to understand how to use the tool effectively.
Jog Basic Usage
To jog an element around a clash:
- Click on the Jog button in the Thermist panel.
- Click the element you want to jog, near the clash you want to clear.
- Thermist finds the nearest obstruction and builds a clash-free jog up and over it.
- Use the window to adjust the angle, or flip the jog to route under instead of over.
- Confirm to build the jog, or cancel to exit without changes.
Adjusting the Jog
- Standard pipes default to a tight 90° jog. Ducts, cable trays, and fabrication parts default to a shallow 30° ramp.
- Use the angle arrows to step to the next angle that fits and clears the clash. Angles that won't fit or can't avoid a clash are skipped automatically.
- Use Flip to switch between routing over and under the obstruction.
- Fabrication parts are limited to the elbow angles your fabrication service can build, so the available angles will snap to those.
Tips for Best Results
- Click close to the clash you want to clear so Jog targets the right obstruction.
- Ensure your model has accurate geometry for clash detection.
- If the jog won't fit at one angle, try a shallower angle or flip the direction.
